Evert Ypma serves as external juror during the annual examination presentations 2022 of the MA Design in Visual Communication at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK).

In occasion of their final studies, the MA students work on research-oriented graduation projects that prepare them for practices and research in the field of design and communication. Beyond focussing on relevant social issues, the candidates are encouraged to explore new creative methods and develop theoretical understandings. The students deliver a written thesis and realise a creative project which they present during a defence presentation. Evert Ypma, researcher and educator at Imagining Science has been invited to serve as external assessor.

Among the projects shown were an artistic research on artisan bread culture in Northern Spain and the human-environmental relationship of food; an exploration of how designers can integrate indigenous and ancestral visual languages into their visual communication design practices; an investigation about the documentation and representation of car crashed through images; and a work about the possible courses of action and limitations that designers face in times of crisis.
